The Best of Intentions
You may have noticed that I’m a dreamer—or maybe not since many of those idea stay on paper, my computer or in my head. I dream up all sorts of things—coffee shops, graphic designs, recipes, photography shots. I start most of them with the very best of intentions, and somehow many of them eventually fall to the side.
I don’t think I’m built for perfect consistency, especially in my creative work. Just like I don’t think this website will ever stay the same for long. Tomorrow I might wake up and hate all the beige, trading it in for something minimal and clean—simple white, black, and green.
For a long time, I thought that meant something was wrong with me. That once you pick a lane—or a “look,” or a role—you’re supposed to stay there. But I’m learning that creativity doesn’t work that way. Growth doesn’t either.
Sometimes the best way to discover who you are (not philosophically, more design and creative wise) is to try, and then keep trying. To step outside the boxes and stereotypes that feel comfortable to everyone else but confining to you. And when something finally feels settled and cohesive, it’s okay to scratch it and start again.
Nothing is forever. Redesigning is learning.
And I design the same way—leaving room for change, growth, and people who don’t quite fit the mold.
